Aluminum Fabrication
Aluminum fabrication covers a wide range of forming and joining operations. We source shops that handle everything from prototype brackets and enclosures through ongoing production runs, matched to your alloy, thickness, tolerance, and volume requirements. Tooling-light for most programs; most fabrication work ships without capitalizing a dedicated fixture.
Capabilities
Process specifications
- Alloys
- 5052, 5754, 6061, 6063, 7075, custom grades
- Sheet thickness
- 0.5 to 10 mm
- Plate thickness
- 6 to 50 mm
- Cutting
- Fiber laser, plasma, waterjet, CNC router
- Bending
- CNC press brake, ±0.2 mm typical, ±0.1 mm achievable
- Welding
- MIG, TIG, pulse TIG; robotic for production volumes
- Finishes
- Anodizing (Type II, Type III), powder coating, brushed, bead blast, passivation
- Typical volumes
- 10 to 100,000+ units per release
When it fits
- Enclosures, brackets, frames, chassis components
- When sheet-to-assembly beats machining from billet on price
- Programs where cosmetic finish (anodizing, powder coat) matters
- Low-to-mid volumes without the tooling burden of die casting
When it does not
- Complex internal geometry. Look at CNC or die casting instead.
- Parts requiring tolerances tighter than ±0.1 mm across a large span
- High-volume net-shape parts where die casting would amortize tooling faster
Common materials
Aluminum 5052 · Aluminum 6061-T6 · Aluminum 6063-T5 · Aluminum 7075-T6
Typical lead time
2 to 6 weeks depending on finishing and volume
